My family
Photo was taken on automatic without flash-the orange glow is from the lights around the restaraunt.

One of the other projects I worked on for my sisters baby shower...I bought the letters to spell out my nieces name, painted them white and attached the brown and white polka dot ribbon to hang over her crib.
Photo isn't great, this was taken late at night after making 9 letters.

Mackenzie's cookies after baking
Photo was taken in automatic mode without a flash.  Any ideas on how to photograph food better?

January 16

Now that my sister's baby shower is over I can reveal my biggest project for it.  I made almost 40 of these jars for guests to take home as favors.  On the lid it has the baking instructions and oh my are they good!  The theme of the shower and of her nursery is cherry blossoms.

This photo can only be appreciated while listening to this song....
Eleven Hundred Springs is my all time favorite band and I couldn't believe I actually found Thunderbird...I've heard it's terrible (I won't try it!) and it's more than $1.50, more like $5.00...but hey!  it's THE American Classic.

Photo was shot in aperture mode and is unedited.

Has anyone ever tried Thunderbird?

Apologies

I have been totally lame about uploading pictures.  I have been taking them everyday, just not uploading.  Today I uploaded about 200 pictures from January 12th-February 2nd.  I am going to hopefully get back on track and make uploads and a post every day :)

Another photo for the project I mentioned on the 11th.

January 11

I have a big project coming up :) I can't show you what it is yet, but I will be able to soon!!  You might be able to tell by my photo though...
Shot in automatic mode without flash.

I apologize for the lameness of this photo.  I felt absolutely no motivation to grab my camera today.  Here's hoping to a better day tomorrow.

January 10

I took this picture today right before I ran the dogs outside for a freezing run in the snow.

Photo was taken without a flash, I can't remember what mode...it's been a long day :)

January 9

It snowed today in East Texas so my husband and I went out and snapped a few pictures.  This is a historical house in downtown Mineola.  Although I have to admit, I am not sure what the history is, we did not get out of the car for this picture.  This photo was taken on sports mode with no flash and is unedited.

January 2-8

So in my first post I said each photo would get it's own post, but I don't want to bog down the blog with 8 posts right in a row, so I will make this post fairly photo heavy and then start tomorrow with a photo per post :)
January 2 - This photo was taken in automatic mode and is unedited.  Why did the chicken cross the road?  To get to Bolsa for my sister in law's 27th birthday lunch!
January 3 - My furbabies and husband on a walk.  This photo was shot in automatic mode and is unedited.  I hate using the flash on my camera, but cannot get good photos in the dark without it.  Is there a better way?
January 4 - Mattison hoping her Dad will drop her a few stove scraps.  Photo was shot in automatic mode without flash and is unedited.
January 5 - Turco cat shot in automatic without flash and unedited.
January 6 - This is my favorite tree on my drive home.  I think I should get a better shot of it though as it looks much better from the other side.  I need to not feel so self conscience taking photos.  Shot in automatic mode without flash, is unedited.
January 7 - I am not thrilled with this picture, I was lazy and did not take many photos so I didn't have any great ones to chose from.  Shot in automatic mode with flash, unedited.
January 8 - Today I took over 100 pictures so narrowing it down to this one was tough.  But I really enjoy the texture in the photo and of course I think this is the most precious boy dog I have ever seen!  This photo was shot in sports mode without a flash and is unedited.  Sports mode is great for photos of pets since they tend to always be in action.  Is there a better way to photograph moving subjects in a more manual way?

Maria's 365 - January 1

I started blogging about 3 months ago and I love it.  But I wanted to start this blog so that I could document my 365 project.  If you haven't heard of it you can learn more about it here! Basically, you take a picture of a moment in your life every day for one year.  I started my project365 on January 1, 2011 and was trying to find a way to post them that wouldn't bombard my life blog.

My husband and I got a brand new nikon d3000 for Christmas and I thought Project 365 would be a great way to learn a little bit about the camera and taking photos.  I am still shooting mostly on automatic but try to force myself to shoot on aperture mode as much as possible.  Any tips on using a DSLR are of course always welcome!! I will try to post my photo of the day, everyday but if I fail I will still post it in it's own dedicated post asap.

So here is my photo from January 1, 2011

This photo was shot in automatic mode shortly after midnight on New Years morning.  And edited to make it a little bit sharper.
